ASUS has launched the 12" widescreen Intel Centrino Duo-based U6S notebook in the country.

The U6S features a mocha brown high-shine cover with underlying shimmering fibers made from the luminous fabric Voile. The streamlined hinge bears hotkeys that are ergonomically placed for easy access.

The U6S has a special LED backlight panel that is half the width and one-third the weight of traditional LCD panels. It lowers power consumption and offers better luminance for a pleasant viewing experience. The laptop features a built-in webcam and ASUS SmartLogon software that recognizes the owner and grants access to the computer after a positive facial scan. With regard to security the laptop features fingerprint authentication, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that encrypts data, password retention and system log on and ASUS CopyProtect that prevents the unauthorized reproduction of data in the notebook.

The U6S uses the Windows Vista operating system, has a 250 GB hard drive and is incorporated with 3.5G High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) wireless broadband capability.

Stanley Wu - Product Manager, Notebooks, ASUS (India) said, "The U6S is one of our premium notebooks, which we are most pleased to release in India. This notebook epitomizes class and exudes a sense of style that is rare to find. Observing the increasing fashion consciousness amongst the Indian people, we're sure that a product offering such as the ASUS U6S will be a breath of fresh air amongst the notebooks currently available in the Indian market."

The ASUS U6S notebook is available nationwide through Rashi Peripherals Pvt. Ltd. and eZone at an approximate end user price of Rs. 94,900 with a 2-year global warranty.
