Blaupunkt has unveiled its new car stereo system, named after our very own city, Mumbai. Ajay Sahai, deputy general manager for sales, India, said at the launch, “Mumbai MP26 is a tribute to the most admired city in India, which is vibrant, dynamic and innovative with a rich culture and warm people.” He also mentioned that Mumbai MP26 is the first car stereo named after an Asian city, by Blaupunkt, following a series of stereos named after major cities of the world. According to Blaupunkt, the stereo system is customized to Indian tastes in terms of style, design and even price. The Mumbai MP26 is packed with features like MP3 playback, shock proof memory (10 sec CD/100 sec MP3), preamp out for external amplifiers (4 channel version), AUX input for external audio sources and a remote control. In addition, the stereo is iPod ready with a connection for the iPod interface and is upgradable to newer versions in the series in future. All this comes at what Blaupunkt calls a "magic price" of Rs 7750, also available internationally. The product available in India will be imported from Malaysia. Mr. Sahai also mentioned that at the moment, their market share is 16% to 18% which amounts to approximately Rs 50 crore in India. blaupunt_mp60.jpg
