Creative has been quiet on the PMP front for a while and I for one was a bit worried, till now. Unofficial reports say that Creative is working on a new PMP much like the Creative Zen; only this one looks like it has features that just might rival the iPod Touch. The new player which could be called the Zen X-Fi, like the previous model, would also support external memory via SD cards. Other features might include an FM radio, voice recorder and Wi-Fi connectivity. Image Source: Epizenter.net Having Wi-fi in a PMP is definitely a bonus feature, provided it’s utilized for web access in terms of actually being able to surf the Internet from the device like the Touch. However, the Zen X-Fi’s Wi-Fi capability it seems, is designed for streaming content from Creative's "Public Media Server", but it could also be used for chatting via Yahoo! Messenger and Microsoft Live. According to the leaked images it seems like the Zen X-Fi would have a keypad much like a mobile handset so typing shouldn’t be an issue. All of this is of course is just speculation and Creative has not confirmed anything, so stay tuned. For more information on click here. |
