Tech2.com was the first to report last week on the results of the BIS LITD 15 Committee vote on changing India's negative stance towards the OXML document format at the International Standards Organization. Well, a week has passed and the dust seems to have settled a bit since then. However, we've managed to get hold of the break-up of the 22-member ballot that was administered by the Bureau of Indian Standards in New Delhi on Thursday, 20th March 2008: YES: 5 NASSCOM - National Assoc. of Software & Services Companies NO: 13 IBM India ABSTAIN: 1 MAIT - Manufacturers Association of Information Technology ABSENT: 3 IEG - Institute of Economic Growth We'll be checking with as many parties as we can on their reasons, though we're pretty certain most of them will decline to comment.
