Hot on the heels of Intel’s latest mobile platform launch, “Santa Rosa”, one can expect to find a slew of laptop releases. Among the first to jump onto this bandwagon, is HP, which has confirmed its plans to release a powerful new laptop the Pavilion HDX. The HDX will be sold under the "Dragon" name and will feature some very hefty specifications. For starters, it packs in a 20.1" BrightView display and graphics powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics processor with 256MB of dedicated video memory. At the heart of the machine is a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 processor, along with 4GB of DDR2 memory. For storage 400GB of storage is provided via two 4200RPM 200GB SATA HDDs. The optical drive used in the Pavilion HDX is an HD DVD unit with DL DVD+-RW capabilities. The OS being used on this laptop will be Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. These specifications put the HDX directly in competition with Dell’s own monster the XPSM2010. Pricing and a release date for HDX, is unknown at this point.
