Think Labs, an IIT Mumbai alumnus venture, is giving kids a chance to express their true “Transformers” or for that matter any other Cartoon Network, Animax, robot fantasy. They’ve organized a kid’s summer camp for robotics for students from standard VII to XII. The camp, called SCORE - (Summer Camp On Robotics Education) is aimed at school and junior college students which in itself is the first of its kind in India. The summer camp will be a week long course conducted every week of May and June at IIT Mumbai. The motivation which led to the conceptualization of SCORE was the question 'Why are students in India lagging behind if the robotics scenario abroad is so advanced?' Team Think Labs, with help from Fred Rose, Director Honeywell and Prof C. Amarnath, IIT Mumbai, are trying to determine just that with the help of this program. This specially developed course includes a versatile iMACH programmable robot kit, simple programming environment and an activity cookbook. The first batch of SCORE will start from May 12th 2008 and will be held over 6 days, every week till the end of June at IIT campus in Powai. |
