ViewSonic VX2433WM LCD Monitor

Viewsonic is the name every graphics professional is familiar with. They have a wide range of displays; their LCD monitors are especially popular. Today, we have a slick 24-incher by them, a full HD model called VX2433M. Let’s see if it lives up to Viewsonic's reputation.

Design and features
The monitor has a very smoothly contoured design, with a slightly curved bottom panel. The bezel in front has a black gloss, shiny surface. The design is quite minimalistic, with a solid Viewsonic logo at the center of the bottom panel, and HDMI, 1080p printed at the left corner. The power switch is a small rectangular silver colored push button, right below the Viewsonic logo, with a luminous blue LED in between. The back panel is not glossy, but is a simple matte plastic surface, and bare.

The connections offered are a DVI-D, HDMI and VGA in, besides EP (3.5 mm) input for audio and headphone out. Yes this model has in built speakers, but they are hidden from view. The buttons on the right hand side panel are small and hidden too, giving a clean look. But while using the menu it might be little cumbersome.

Setting up is really simple, no screws nothing, just a simple click on stand. The stand is oval and similar in finish to the glossy bezel. But here now there are few issues, as the screen does not swivel, and the overall joint is slightly wobbly. The monitor does tilt up and down a few 20 degrees or so.

Specs
The screen size is 24 inches, actually 23.6 inches, with a true 16:9 aspect ratio, making this one a widescreen. The resolution is full HD 1920 x 1080. The response time is rated at 2 ms (grey to grey), with 1000:1 contrast ratio and 20,000:1 dynamic ratio. The Brightness is 300 cd/m² and I’m assuming the type of LCD panel is a TN panel. The colors are generated by a 6 bit DAC, but it uses something called FRC (frame rate control) which many brands do, to achieve the 16.7 million colors that 8-bit panels give out. In simple terms what does this mean? Some colors will be achieved out of approximation, so we need to visually see for any color shifts or burning out of colors.
