Activision Cancel Guitar Hero Series and True Crime Hong Kong

Activision has made a name for itself in recent times as not just the biggest player in the gaming industry, but also the most hated. And that hate just grew exponentially as Activision canceled its Guitar Hero franchise as well as upcoming open world action game, True Crime Hong Kong. Canceling the Guitar Hero franchise doesn’t really bother me a lot as the series had lost its soul in recent times but axing True Crime hit me hard. Developer by the same guys behind last year’s Modnation Racers, True Crime Hong Kong was a reboot of sorts where players would travel to Hong Kong and experience the life of an undercover cop deep inside Triad territory. In fact, gaming magazine EGM recently showcased the game as part of their cover story, and it looked awesome. The face of pure evil But then again someone at Activision felt otherwise and the game got shafted as it "just wasn't going to be good enough." As far as Guitar Hero’s concerned, Activision are disbanding that “business unit” as it feels people just aren’t interested in the music genre anymore. Bottom line is that Activision will only support the games that continue to make bucket load of money like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Starcraft and umm, that’s about it. Via IGN |
