A month ago, AMD forced its CEO Dirk Meyer to resign after AMD lost out on the smartphone and tablet processors race over the last couple of years. Now COO, Robert Rivet and Sr. VP of Corporate Strategy, Marty Seyer have gone their own ways. Unlike Meyer, they will continue to work with AMD for a short period. AMD hasn’t officially announced a reason for them leaving except that they wish to pursue other opportunities. Instability of a different sort at AMD For the time being, Devinder Kumar, Corporate Controller will look after the COO job role whereas the Sr. VP of Corporate Strategy post will be looked after by Harry Wolin. AMD continues to look for fitting individuals to fill in the gaps. Both Rivet and Seyer have been working with AMD for over eight years. AMD has been doing reasonably well in its last quarter and its shares rose by 9.4 % over the last year. The issues on Intel’s motherboard end are only working in AMD’s favour as there is a shortage of boards and also a resistance to buy Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors since the last few weeks. |
