Telecom service providers Bharti Airtel and Hutch have reduced International Long Distance Tariffs (ISD) for all their mobile customers in the country. With effect from 1st April 2007, Airtel and Hutch mobile customers can call USA, Canada, Australia, Europe (Fixed Line), Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and New Zealand for Rs 6.40 per minute—a reduction of 11% from the earlier rates. Customers will also be able to call Gulf, Europe (Mobile), SAARC countries and Africa at Rs. 9.20 a minute with Airtel and Rs. 9.19 with Hutch—a reduction of 8% from the earlier rates. "India is a global economic powerhouse today with business interests spanning boundaries. We also have a large and growing base of over 22 million Non Resident Indians. I am happy that Airtel is taking a step further to dissolve these boundaries and bring people closer to connect with their business associates, friends and family internationally. Being the industry leader, we will continue to be at the forefront in driving affordability and providing greater value to our customers," said Sanjay Kapoor, President, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel. |
