Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will arrive in India this week to oversee the various programs initiated by the philanthropic organisation that he has set up. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's initiative, called "Avahan", has invested almost $330 million in India to support efforts to reduce the spread of HIV. Gates is also scheduled to speak at a conference organised Friday by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), the apex body of software companies in India. He will hold a video-conference with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the same day. The two were earlier scheduled to meet in the national capital. Other details of his itinerary are still being finalised, officials of the Gates Foundation said. |
