PC gaming is a rather cumbersome activity with tons of wires and peripherals cluttering up your desk in the process. Someone at Razr was probably sick of all this and came up with the concept of a portable PC gaming device. Dubbed the Switchblade, this prototype device is all set to revolutionize the way we play our PC games. But how can a mobile platform handle mouse and keyboard support you ask? Razr’s got that angle covered by combining a multi-touch screen with an adaptive keyboard that changes configurations on the fly depending on the game you're currently playing. The device looks like it's perform exceptionally well with World of Warcarft where all the bazillion keys pertaining to skills, attacks etc will magically be laid out on the keyboard thanks to its adaptive ability. Love fragging people at Quake? It’ll automatically map all the necessary keys you need to shoot people in the face. It’s like it knows what you want. The future of PC gaming? According to Kotaku the Switchblade has been developed on Intel's new Atom platform which hopefully will add the much needed graphical push to this prototype device. I don’t see it running Crysis in HD but I guess it’ll work some of the older, popular games just fine. Besides gaming, the Switchblade will also handle multimedia activities and surfing just fine. Expect more information to seep out of CES but in the meantime marvel at this magical device via the trailer included below. |
