D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced that its vPort Gateway (GW) embedded VoIP software now supports WiMAX chipset solutions offered by Sequans Communications, the world’s leading WiMAX chipmaker. By enhancing vPort-GW with support for Sequans’ SQN1210 WiMAX SoC, OEMs and ODMs have a faster and more economical way to design and develop WiMAX 4G residential gateways, routers and other CPE with broad VoIP and IP communications capabilities. The combined solution delivers ultra high speed Internet access and optimizes carrier-grade VoIP functionality. Visitors to Computex 30 Taipei, being held June 1-5, 2010 at the Taipei (Taiwan) International Convention Center in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 (Booth A0418a), can get a first look at the joint D2 – Sequans solution running on a CPE reference design based on the Ralink RT3052 SoC. Sequans’ field-proven SQN1210 features patented dual transmit uplink technology with closed loop diversity that dramatically improves coverage and offers throughput of greater than 40 Mbps. vPort’s advanced VoIP functionality includes voice quality assurance technology such as jitter buffer and packet loss compensation, and enables rich voice features achieved with minimal memory and CPU impact. The joint D2 – Sequans solution delivers dramatically reduced power consumption over previous generation technology for the three global WiMAX bands: 2.3, 2.5 and 3.5 GHz.
