I’m sure all of us remember Duke Nukem. The bubblegum-chewing, butt-kicking badass was a man among men – one that was loved by women and men alike, enough to put Dudebro to shame. So it was no wonder that when Duke Nukem Forever was announced there were celebrations, feasts and rejoicing all around, only it was short-lived. The game has since been hit with delay after delay and we were left wondering if it was ever going to release. If you were one of us, then mark 6/5/2011 down on your calendar because Forever has finally, finally arrived. Not sure about Morning, but there certainly is some 'wood' around here now It’s official, folks. Duke Nukem Forever will release for the PC, XBOX360 and PS3 on May 3, 2011 in the US and May 6, 2011 elsewhere. Following an escalation of his legend to “epic proportions” since his last adventure, Duke Nukem Forever will follow the story of Duke Nukem (duh), as he tries to save the world (babes live in this world) from vicious alien swarms. It’s the gamers’ job to make Duke look even more badass than he is, which is pretty much an impossible task, but we’ve still got to give it our best shot. "Today I am proud, humbled and even astounded to announce that the day is coming at last for all gamers to be a part of video game history: Duke Nukem Forever will launch worldwide this May,” said Randy Pitchford, part of 3D Realms who were the developers behind the Duke Nukem games of yore, and now President of Gearbox Software. Adding to his comments was Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. He said, “The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here. May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!” Well they seem quite excited about the whole thing and quite honestly, I don’t blame them. For those of us who are too excited to wait for the game to release, 2K is bundling a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever with the Game of the Year edition of Borderlands. So if you haven’t played Borderlands, which is a great game by itself, yet this gives you the perfect excuse to pick it up. In the meantime, you can check out the awesome trailer for DFF below – it might just whet your appetite for the real thing. Fair warning though, it's mildly NSFW. |
