Electronic Arts held their annual games showcase in Mumbai on Wednesday, where members of the media had the opportunity to try out some of the games that EA is set to release in India during the rest of the year. The publisher also announced plans to promote its upcoming games via special preorder bonuses. One such promotion is already underway for FIFA 11, Medal of Honor and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and in November, EA will begin preorders for Dragon Age 2, which releases in March next year. The most popular titles on show were FIFA 11, which releases on October 1, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which is being developed by Criterion Games (Burnout) and is a throwback to one of the series’ most popular installments. Hot Pursuit is set for release on November 19. A level from the single-player campaign of the upcoming first-person shooter Medal of Honor was also playable for the first time. The series reboot, developed by EA’s Los Angeles studio and DICE, is scheduled for release on October 15. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 released a couple of months ago, but the game-changing PlayStation Move motion control compatibility was on show at the event. For those who already own the game for PS3, Move capability is available via a free online patch. Other games playable were the console version of 2009’s highest selling PC game, The Sims 3 (October 29); EA’s take on mixed martial arts with EA Sports MMA (October 22); fitness game EA Sports Active 2, which in addition to Wii, is also coming to Xbox 360 and PS3; and Visceral Games’ Dead Space 2, which was the only game playable at the event that will release next year (January 25). EA also highlighted its lineup for the first quarter of 2011, with the biggest titles undoubtedly being Crysis 2 (March), Epic Games and People Can Fly’s BulletStorm (February), and BioWare’s Dragon Age 2 (March), although none of these games were playable at the showcase event. |
