Google to Launch New Web Calendar Service
| by Sharon Khare |
|Google's competition with Microsoft intensifies with the launch of a test version of its online calender, challenging Microsoft's traditional desktop software. This service takes Google's transformation from a search engine to a full-fledged Internet portal a step further. Google has said it has tied its calendar service closely to Gmail to make it easier to create calendar entries while communicating by e-mail, and to communicate with other people about events in one's diary. Google Calendar also includes a search function, so users can find other calendars published online and integrate these with their personal data. Users can use their current Google accounts or Gmail login ids to use Google Calendar. The company is also developing software to make it possible for users to sync their Google Calendar with data in their Outlook software.|
