While on the one hand, smartphones are looking to replace wallets, on the other hand, wallets are getting more gadgety just to outdo smartphones. Dunhill's out with a wallet that uses biometrics to safeguard your cash and credit. In order to open the wallet, you need to scan your finger over a sensor and only if it matches, will your wallet open. Dunhill calls the wallet "virtually indestructable" and says that it has sensors in its carbon fiber casing. Hello future 007 movie prop And that's not all. Dunhill's added another 'security feature' (that's in quotes because you decide whether it's security or not), where the wallet comes equipped with Bluetooth and can be used to hook up to your phone. If the phone senses that the wallet is more than 5 meters away from it, indicating that it's missing or stolen, the phone will sound an alarm. This can be irritating for those of us who sometimes take our wallet out for something in the next room or to run a quick errand and leave our phones behind. Here's the fun part. The wallet costs $825 (approx Rs. 37,900). And it being virtually indestructable, who needs cash when you have the wallet? So go on, pour out your savings so you have somewhere safe to put your next paycheque. |
