Traffic jams drive people crazy but they seemed to have driven A.K Vishwanath, an Indian inventor to the extent of building a flying car. The flying car was influenced by flying bees. One would expect an invention of this sort to be based on some modern supercar, but his invention is based on an unsuspecting Maruti 800 car. He claims that the car has vertical takeoff capabilities. Vishwanath has worked 16 years to design the car along with several other engineers from his company B’Lorean after the Delorean car from the movie Back to the Future. The flying Delorean from the movie series Back to the Future Vishwanath has filed 40 patents in the process of developing this car. The flying car is said to use an electrical generator in the initial stages after which the engine takes over and provides the lift for the car using the downward pointing nozzles. The lift is used for taking off vertical and also for forward movement. A scale model of the car has been tested in a wind tunnel. The car was on show at the Aero 2011 but was denied permission due to lack of certification. |
