The fair, which will be on till March 22, has been organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Exhibitions India Pvt. Ltd.

"Today's ICT marketplace is shaped by the integration and convergence of information processing, telecommunications, networking, Internet solutions and services, IT security, bank and card technology, as well as research and technology," T.V. The annual event, being held at the sprawling grounds of Pragati Maidan in the heart of the city, is billed as one of south Asia's largest ICT events.

According to the participants, India is increasingly growing into a credible ICT destination with more and more global conglomerates like Nokia, Motorola setting up manufacturing facilities.

A total of 62.60 million lines were added during the first 11 months of the current fiscal (2006-07) compared to the corresponding period in 2005-06, says Indian telecom watchdog Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
