IPTV To Come To India

10 Apr, 2006, 3:29 pm IST | by Jayesh Mansukhani |

The Indian broadband scene as of late has grown in an impressive manner. Hoping to capitalize on it, Indian Telecom operators are all set to bring Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) to the country. IPTV technology will allow operators to offer crystal clear television using existing broadband networks. Big global technology providers such as Alcatel, Microsoft and Ericsson are in talks with operators to offer IPTV. As of now there are no legislations, regulations and guidelines in place, prompting operators to ask the government to get their act together on this sphere. For major operators like Reliance and Bharti this move makes sense as they have thousands of km of unlit fibre and have their own broadband services. Get set to watch TV on your PC.
