Mark Wahlberg is Nathan Drake?

It’s been a while since news of an Uncharted movie hit the net. Since then rumors have been swirling around that Marky Mark himself, Mark Wahlberg will star as Nathan Drake. This obviously didn’t go down too well with fans of the game, as the debacle that was the Max Payne movie, was still embedded into their sub-conscience.

The new Lara Croft?

And now it seems all their fears have been realized as Wahlberg confirmed his association with the movie in an interview with MTV. While he doesn’t come out and say that he is Drake, it’s pretty much a given that he would be cast as the titular character. In addition to this, he also verifies that both Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro have been approached for this movie to star as his uncle and father respectively. The movie that has yet to hit production will be directed by David O. Russell who’s worked with Wahlberg on the awesome Three Kings and the yet to be released, The Fighter.

While I’m happy and apprehensive at the thought of an Uncharted movie, I still hope, deep down that somewhere, someone is planning a God of War movie.
