In what can be termed a significant development, Microsoft is all set to release Vista SP2 into a beta cycle. The Windows Vista SP2 beta will be available to a small group of Technology Adoption Program customers on Wednesday, October 29, and will hit full-time status as a release by the end of the first quarter of 2009. The new service pack is going to bring a rash of changes, including support for Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology, the ability to record data on to Blu-ray media natively in Vista, and Windows Search 4.0 for speed and improved relevancy. Over the past year or two, Microsoft had suffered a lot of bad press over problems with Vista and its system requirements. Though the OS has greatly stabilized since its launch, and Microsoft has worked hard on improving the product, it nevertheless remains a bit of a sore point for the company that there are several million customers who are gladly holding on to XP. Check out some of the intended changes on Technet. |
