New Music Service Allows Streaming to PCs

Avvenu, that provides consumers with free remote access and sharing of files stored on their computers, has announced the Avvenu Music Player, a new digital music service that allows users to listen to and share their iTunes music library using any PC, Macintosh or Windows Mobile 5 smartphone.

The Avvenu Music Player is a web-based service that can access music, users have ripped using iTunes on up to six Windows PCs. Once installed on their PCs, the Avvenu Music Player lets users remotely listen to and share their iTunes music collection using a web browser. The Avvenu Music Player streams music from iTunes via the Internet, enabling immediate playback while protecting the rights of copyright holders. Users can listen to their iTunes music collection using the Avvenu Music Player on any Windows Mobile 5 smartphone, including the Motorola Q, Palm Treo 700w and Samsung Blackjack.

"Palm customers have come to expect high-quality, feature-rich smartphones, and now they'll be able to access their iTunes music collection from their Treo 700w and Treo 700wx," said Mike Rank, director of Developer Relations at Palm, Inc. "The Avvenu Music Player is great example of innovative digital media services made even better on Treo smartphones."

The Avvenu Music Player features an easy-to-use interface displaying playlists, artist names, album names, song names and musical genres. The current beta version of the Avvenu Music Players allows users to share their music with friends for up to five days, providing a great way to discover and experience new music anytime, from anywhere.

The Avvenu Music Player beta can share up to 250 songs with friends, remotely listen to users' iTunes music collections, and up to 250 songs when their PC is turned off, listen using a web browser on Internet-connected Windows PCs or Mac, Support MP3, AAC and WMA music file formats.

"The Apple iPod" and iTunes have revolutionized the way people experience and enjoy music, now the Avvenu Music Player expands this experience, allowing iTunes users to listen to and share their library of music in exciting new ways."

The beta version of the Avvenu Music Player will be available for free download here.
