Norwegian hotel chain Nordic Choice has taken the next step from automated check-ins at airports and have automated hotel check-in. It's the first major hotel to completely automate check-in and check-out. The system is developed by a company called Ariane Systems and guests check-in prior to arrival with the Allegro web/mobile check-in platform. They click on a link sent by text and email where they can update their check-in time, room preferences and pay. Your smartphone room key When guests arrive at the hotel (after checking in), they get their room number and the options of how to get into their room. They have the option of using their phone as a key with the OpenWays Mobile Key system or by getting an RFID keycard through an automatic kiosk. This seems like a convenient system and is definitely worth a try, however, when you're traveling to a new place, it's often always nice to have a receptionist to talk to and help you figure out where you are. There are some jobs that should be replaced with automation and some that just shouldn't. What would you like to see automated? |
