OpenOffice to Get Plugin System

26 Sep, 2006, 2:30 pm IST | by Jayesh Mansukhani |

Zdnet has reported that looking to emulate Mozilla's success with Firefox's plug-in system that allows anyone to customize the browser, OpenOffice.org has announced that it will follow a similar policy and will support plug-in extensions to attract developers to its open-source office suite.

OpenOffice.org hopes that with this announcement their product will find increased number of takers and hopes to see an entire eco-system of development and customization for their open-office suite spring up.

OpenOffice has been in the news a fair bit as quite a few prominent governments have warmed up to its Open document format and with this announcement its growing popularity should only increase.
