Reliance Big Entertainment Acquires 50% Stake in Codemasters

06 Apr, 2010, 1:38 pm IST | by Avinash Bali |

Reliance has extended its gigantic corporate hands towards gaming and in a move that pretty much came out of nowhere it acquired a 50% stake in Codemasters, the British game developer best known for the Colin McRae series.

Here’s what Rohit Sharma, CEO of Zapak had to say on the whole deal:__STARTQUOTE__We are excited to partner with Codemasters and believe it's very strong technology, development and distribution presence will complement our global gaming portfolio. Additionally, Zapak's global strength in mobile gaming will enhance Codemasters' ability to fully leverage its attractive franchises such as its racing and cricket games.__ENDQUOTE__

I seriously hope this means more awesome games and less casual crap.
