Bizarre Creations, the British game developer behind titles like The Club, Blur, Geometry Wars and more noticeably, the Project Gotham Racing series will officially be put to rest this Friday according to develop online. The studio had been put up for sale by publisher Activision last year but sadly no buyers came forth. Bizarre Creations has been in the business for the past twenty years but it was only with the Project Gotham Racing series did they become a household name. Ironically, their IPs since then have failed to make a significant dent at the box office. This is most evident in their time based arcade shooter, The Club and their vehicular combat game, Blur. Rest In Peace Both games were well received by critics but didn't sell well due to unfortunate release timing. And as you all know by now, Activision isn’t exactly the most patient publisher on the block axing developers like there’s no tomorrow. So it is with a heavy heart that we bid goodbye to the Liverpool game development studio and hope some of their IPs do live on through the hands of other developers. |
