Security Companies offer All-in-one Packages

The fight to protect your PC is heating up. Security companies are now offering all-in-one packages taking care of every conceivable cyber threat. These all-in-one products mainly coming from Symantec and McAfee are generally $40 to $80 cheaper than buying individual products. Next Year Symantec plans to unveil Norton 360, which packs a firewall, anti-virus software, phishing protection and more in a software package. It includes acquired technology from Veritas Software. These security bundles come amid a wave of spam, phishing scams and viruses. According to a survey carried out by Symantec, two-third of people prefer an all-in-one package. Peter Christy, co-founder of Internet Research Group says that its not only the customers that the companies are bowing to but also to Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare, a security software package introduced in May this year. Julie Fergerson, vice president of emerging technologies at Debix, a start-up that manages credit-monitoring services for consumers who've been notified their IDs have been lost or stolen said that no single product can ensure your computer is safe all the time and envisioned a market in which companies offer remote-hosted security services for consumers, as Internet service providers already offer to businesses.
