Symantec, which has been working over the past year on its security suite Norton 360, today announced that it has shipped the product. Norton's 360 protects consumers from Internet threats, online frauds and identity theft with its security suite that combines an antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware application. It also safeguards important data by automatically storing it online and in case of data loss the software will restore it. Norton 360 also protects against phishing, by making use of its own 'Phish Report' network, which is entirely dependent on the user reporting against phishing sites. Norton 360 is designed to compete with the latest products from McAfee as well as Microsoft, which shipped Windows Live OneCare last year. After Microsoft jumped into the space, companies have started releasing suites that combine basic antivirus, antispyware and firewall technologies with backup features and several tune-up tools for Windows PCs. |
