Universal Puts BioShock Movie On Hold

If you're waiting for the world of Rapture to flood onto the silver screen, you'll just have to wait a while longer. As IGN reports, Universal Picture's movie adaptation of last year's epic shooter BioShock (which will be directed by Gore Verbinski of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' fame) has been put on hold since its budget's been expanding exponentially. The budget of the movie which recently hit the $160 million range, is more than the studio's willing to shed out, so until they "figure out a way to make the film at a more reasonable budget" the production will be halted. The movie was in its pre-production stage when the decision was made. Now lets just hope that they figure out a way to cut costs without compromising on quality, and that they do so quickly, else who knows - the movie might just find its place in an early, under-sea grave. I have my fingers cross. Universal Pictures, would you kindly give us a great BioShock flick, and soon? |
