WarDevil Cancelled

| by Avinash Bali |

Remember WarDevil? Of course you don’t. It was a third person action adventure in development for nearly five years that never really received any major publicity. Even when UTV bought over Ignition games, WarDevil failed to capture the eye of the mainstream media.

We were lucky enough to play the game at 2009’s Tokyo Game Show and while it didn’t seem like Game of the Year material, it certainly had potential. And now we learn, via 1up.com that the game has officially been canceled after being in development for nearly five years. In addition to this 30 staff members from Ignition’s London studio have also been laid off.

While no official statement has been released it seems the game was canned so Ignition could concentrate on "Digital Development". I have no clue what that entails but Ignition better start producing some quality stuff ASAP as their track record since the past few years has been abysmal.

Oh and in case you’re interested in what this game could have been, head on over to our impressions.

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
