HP Launches TouchSmart 610 All-in-One PC in India

The reason why touchscreen PCs have never really taken off is due to the fact that one would have to extend their hand in a very awkward position to use the display. That's not very comfortable. HP may have solved this little problem with their new TouchSmart 610 PC, which has the ability to recline up to a 30 degree angle, making it adjustable for the optimum position. This way, one can use it more in places like a kitchen counter, for instance, as it's easier to use one, when standing. All this convenience comes at a price and the new 610 will cost you Rs. 74,150, bundled with a 3-year warranty.

Main highlights include a large 23-inch multi-touch screen running TouchSmart 4.0 software suite. Viewing the screen at such angles is possible, thanks to the LED backlighting which is more, even compared to CCFL. The 74K model is made up of Intel’s Core i3-2100 Sandy ridge CPU along with 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 500GB (7200rpm) hard drive. The graphics card used is a ATI MXM30 Viper, which quite frankly I’m hearing for the very first time and Google doesn’t seem to be of much help. Other components include a 6-in-1 card reader, slot loading DVD drive, TV Tuner, Wi-Fi ‘n’ with Bluetooth, HP wireless keyboard and mouse and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition.

HP has also optimized some popular apps like Facebook, Twitter and their own RecipeBox for the multi-touch panel. The PC also features Beats Audio by Dr. Dre for a richer sound experience.
