This one’s playing on your television today, non-stop. Clearly, the mobile phone has grown and evolved from just being a means of communication; it now is an important element in the technology realm. Yesterday's incident, which unfolded within the walls of the Karnataka Assembly, has now gone on to show just how myriad the ways of technology are. While one piece of technology was used to surf porn in an ongoing debate session by two ministers, another one proved to be the ballistic eye-opener, when it obediently relayed what it saw, on national television. Technology therefore has a much bigger role to play, when it comes to bringing such incidents to light. Caught on camera! (Image credit: Getty Images)
For those not in the know, 2 ministers belonging to an affluent political party in India were ousted when they were caught surfing porn, while a session was in progress by a very cleverly positioned TV camera in the gallery right behind them. Ironically, one of the accused in this incident was recently in the news proclaiming his views on how a woman ought to dress in public to keep unwanted attention at bay. While the ministers resigned a while back to save their party's image, the incident has naturally, sparked off quite a debate.
The web is flooded with clips of the incident, and below is one such video, courtesy IBNLive. The video will give you a clear description of what transpired during that Assembly session.
In the video above, one of the ministers can clearly be seen watching a porn clip on his mobile phone holding it below the table, while the one seated next to him can be seen peering over. This entire act, as you can see was caught by the lens of a TV camera that was positioned behind them. Naturally, the cameraperson was obliged to zoom in and film it. All this went on while the Assembly was in session, debating over an issue as crucial as the condition of famers in drought-stricken regions in the state. Can you think of any incident(s), where technology had a bigger role to play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. |
