Google Kills Emulator Dev's Account from Android Market

30 May, 2011, 10:31 am IST | by Rossi Fernandes | Android

If there’s one thing that gamers love about the Android, it’s the freely available emulators for older gaming consoles. Yongzh is the one responsible for developing NES, SNES, N64 and whole bunch of other emulators. We talked about the N64 emulator not too long back.

Google has been more conservative than some of the other app stores when it comes to killing accounts and disabling apps from its apps market . It should come as a surprise to many that Google has disabled Yongzh’s account on the Android market and all the apps. There seems to be no explanation given but it’s very likely that one of the large game console developers might have complained about the developer to Google. While many consider emulators themselves to be legal, it’s the downloading of ROMs and playing them that’s considered illegal. Sony in the past has been known to file lawsuits against emulator developers, but has lost those cases.
