The $99 Apple TV has just been hacked by a hacker named Steve Troughton Smith who has enabled it to run iOS applications now. As part of the hack, users can now use applications like Safari, Facebook or even play Angry Birds on the relatively giant screen. As reported by SlashGear, all apps run at 720p resolution, thanks to some brilliant coding by Smith.
Apple TV running iOS applications!
Now if only someone would just get us a full touchscreen ‘hack’ for our TV, we’d gleefully pinch and drag and play Angry Birds on the giant screen, and er, throw away our tablet…and fall in love with our TV all over again! Back to the do-able or rather the ‘done’ part, Smith has also got remote control support for the iOS apps on Apple TV, which does sweeten the whole deal. Head over to the video below to check it out.
