MapMyIndia, the local maps and navigation service has launched a free location-based application called ShowNearby for Android, iOS and BlackBerry. The app allows users to locate nearby places of interest like restaurants, banks, petrol pumps, tourist spots, emergency services and more. It is, of course, powered by MapMyIndia. The application derives information of the user's location via GPS and for any place the user may want to visit, the app also provides the address, phone number and hours of operation of the specific place, which can then be saved to the phone's contact list, as well as can be shared with friends via email or SMS. Users can also see and request deals at outlets and brands in the application. Screenshots of the ShowNearby app
In addition to consumers, the application provides benefits to business owners, as well. Not only does it get information about a business out (including location and contact information), but it also allows business owners to communicate information on deals and special offers, product launches and any other special events that they would want their customers to know about.
The MapMyIndia ShowNearby application has been developed in collaboration with Singapore-based, location based startup, ShowNearby. The application is available for free on Android (Market link), iOS (App Store link) and BlackBerry (App World link) by going to their respective app stores. The app will soon be made available for mobile web as well as Windows Phone 7. The app can also be downloaded by going to http://m.mapmyindia.com/ |
