Audiovox Launches First In-Car Blu-ray Player

A lot of us are used to seeing people watching movies in their cars and it's nice; but now Audiovox has taken it to the next level. While other manufacturers have been threatening to launch an in-car Blu-ray player for some time now, Audiovox has put their money where their mouth is and actually done it - and it’s the industry’s first too! The AVDBR1 will be ready for sale in just a couple of months from now for around $350 (Rs. 15,879) and can be installed under the seat or in a storage compartment in the vehicle. It also connects to any monitor by using either the HDMI, composite or component output and has Wi-Fi capabilities as well.

The unit has been road tested to so that it will work well inside a car and due to its small size, allows for multiple horizontal and vertical mounting options in the vehicle. The unit is powered from a 2-pin, 12-volt connector to the vehicle's accessory power source and comes with a full function wireless IR remote control, and an 18 foot long IR extension is also included to allow for operation of the system via remote control. The infrared sensor will accept the IR commands from a remote and relay it back to the unit.

There’s no telling if this unit will be coming to India, but worry not, for I’m pretty sure that some Chinese manufacturer will come out with something similar at quarter the price soon enough.
