CES 2010: Sanyo Announces New Industry Leading Camcorders

Sony’s Xacti range of camcorders stretch over numerous categories that also include pocket camcorders or Dual Cameras. At their CES 2010 announced what could very well be the world’s thinnest, lightest and smallest Dual camera the VPC-CS1. Also showcased was their VPC-SH1 camcorder that features a 35-mm Wide-Angle Lens and  30x Advanced Zoom capability. Both cameras are designed to make transferring and uploading data very simple for the consumers by utilizing a convenient video format. This ways sharing images etc. on blogs or social networking sites will more convenient.

The VPC-CS1 is undergoing certification to be compatible with iFrame, a next generation video format that has been designed to allow users to easily import, edit and share high quality video. It supports Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) recording capabilities packed into a slim sleek shell that weighs in at just about 5 ounces. It’s also equipped with three sound modes -
Wide Mode: Stereo recording with high channel separation
Gun Microphone Mode: Recording that focuses on sound emanating from the direction that the camera is pointing, while reducing sounds from other directions
Zoom Combination Mode: Automatically changes the directivity and sound gathering format according to the zoom positions

Aside from video it can also take still images in an 8 megapixel size resolution.  Other features include -
- 10x optical zoom
- a 38-mm wide angle lens
- The new Digital Image Stabilizer
- Face Chaser and Target a Color Function
- Sequential Shot
- Eye-Fi card compatibility that enables automatic uploading of images to a computer
- Mini HDMI terminal for viewing high quality and clear images on supported TVs
- and it’s also compatible with large-capacity recording media, SDXC memory card.

The VPC-CS1 will be out in February of this year for a price of about Rs. 13,716 ($299.99 USD).

The second camera, horizontal “Xacti” VPC-SH1, while incorporating similar functions and features as the CS1 sports a 35-mm wide-angle lens with high-power 30x advanced zoom function. It’s equipped with Sanyo’s Double Sub REC Buttons that are placed up front, should enable users to easily capture low-angle images in a comfortable posture.
