The Xbox 360’s messaging kit hit the market a while back, and now it’s Sony’s turn to throw in the goods. Yesterday, at the Game Developers Conference 2008 in Leipzig, Germany, Sony announced their brand new add-on gizmo – a wireless keypad that connects to the PlayStation 3 controller! The device will use Bluetooth Technology and a toggle switch on it will allow the “entire surface of the keypad” to be used like a touchpad! Oh, and the best part is that it’s compatible with any device that uses Bluetooth, including smart phones and laptops! Here are a few details CEA hardware marketing director John Koller had to spare on the official PlayStation Blog: "In this mode, you can slide your finger on this area to move the cursor on the screen and tap to enter. There will be two short cut buttons on the Keypad that will enable users to jump directly to the XMB's 'Friends' icon and the 'Message Box' during gameplay." The design of the device seems really good, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it and see how functional it really is. The device is due this November in the European market, but there’s no word of when it’ll hit India. |
