AMD Zambezi-FX Processors to Launch on September 19th, 2011

AMD’s new FX series processors (earlier known as the Bulldozer) will appear in stores this September 19th. There will be two 8-core models in both, the FX-8100 and FX-8150 series. A 6-core model, the FX-6100 and a 4-core one will also be launched. The best of the lot, the FX-8150 consists of 8-cores that have a core frequency of 3.6 GHz, a Turbo frequency of 4.2GHz and a TDP of 125W. The FX-8100 has a frequency from 2.8 GHz to 3.7GHz and a TDP of 95W. The 6-core processor, the FX-6100 has a core frequency of 3.3 GHz and a Turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz at a TDP of 95W whilst the FX-8170 has a core frequency of 3.6 GHz and Turbo frequency of 3.8 GHz. The packaging used is the AM3+ with a dual-channel DDR3-1866 integrated memory controller. The chips are all based on the 32nm process technology. The other features include 1MB of L2 cache per core and 8MB of shared L3 cache.
AMD have tried sprucing up the launch by introducing a mini comic series for the 8-core processors on their website. A video for the same can be viewed below:
