Intel seems to be doing very well these days. Coming afresh off the success of their Core2duo platform, which revitalized their fortunes, they are now beginning to manufacture prototypes of their newest processor core the Penryn. The report filed by Dailytech, states that the Penryn core marks the transition of the C2D core to 45nm and will be manufactured at Intel’s Oregon factories. According to current roadmaps, the Penryn core will make their appearance in the second half of 2007 and will mark the last product to be based on Intel’s core architecture. Ironically, while Intel is expecting to initiate their transition 45nm, AMD at the same time will only be able complete its transition to 65nm which is Intel’s current mainstay. |
