Taiwanese PC component manufacturer, VIA today announced the launch of its newest Quad-Core processor. Taste the power.
The Processor features a highly energy efficient multi-core architecture and combines four of VIA’s ‘Isaiah’ cores on two dies, and runs at a speed of 1.2 GHz with 4MB of L2 cache and the 1333MHz V4 Bus. The processors are natively 64-bit compatible and have adaptive Overclocking, as well as, VIA VT virtualization along with VIA PadLock and the Advanced Cryptography Engine, which delivers AES encryption.
According to Epan Wu, Head of Processor Platforms, VIA Technologies, Inc, "As a result of the rapid proliferation of high definition multimedia content and increasingly demanding multithreaded applications, a four core processor is the new baseline for today's mainstream PC user, the VIA quad-core processor meets that need with the industry's most power efficient architecture”.
The new quad-core processors are manufactured using the 40nm process and are fully compatible with VIA Eden, VIA C7 and VIA Nano E-Series, and VIA Eden X2 processors. VIA technologies has stated that the new processor will be on display at the VIA booth at Computex which starts on the 31st of May, 2011. |
