24 May, 2007, 1:00 pm IST | by Jayesh Mansukhani | Desktops

Hot off the news of their upcoming tablet, Dell has now refreshed their high-end gaming desktop range the XPS series with the launch of the XPS 720 H2C. This new machine as in keeping with the XPS tradition of bundling the most expensive PC components as part of its setup will be built on Intel's Core 2 Extreme processor the QX6700 or the QX6800. Both these processors will be heavily factory overclocked up to speeds of 3.46 GHz for the QX6700 and 3.73 GHz for the QX6800. The XPS 720 will also receive custom cooling in the form of the thermo-electric/liquid cooling system and will utilize Corsair’s DDR2-800 Dominator memory for its memory requirement. The memory sticks will also be over clocked to 1066 GHz.

The peripherals that will come with this new machine read like a who's who of high-end equipment. The machine can be equipped with Dual 160GB SATA 3Gbps 10,000RPM hard drives with support for RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and 5, a 2x Blu-ray drive, SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card, a 1KW PSU, choice of Vista Home Premium or XP Media Center and a 24in Dell UltraSharp 2407FPW widescreen monitor with flat panel speakers.

Prices for the XPS 720 start at US$5999. For further details on this monster machine, kindly on over here.
