12 May, 2011, 6:20 pm IST | by Aaron Almeida | Desktops

On Tuesday, the second and final day of Google I/O Developers Conference, Google announced the Chromebooks. These Chrome OS based notebooks stole the show. However, Google also showed off a nettop running the Chrome OS. This nettop has been called ‘Chromebox’ by Google.

Google unveiled a Samsung branded Chromebox which will work as a non portable platform for the Chrome OS. This will allow it to be a desktop version of the web centric OS. The Chrome OS is an operating system made by Google to work entirely with web based applications. The user interface will be minimalistic as this OS is aimed at users who focus on web browsing.

Very few details are available about the nettop as of now but we are sure that an announcement will be on the cards from Google regarding the Chromebox.
