Well it seems that the Apple/Intel bonding has resulted in Apple getting a exclusive gift from Intel. The gift in question would be the yet to be released Z68 chipsets. Exclusivity Inside
As we already reported, Apple’s iMac received a much needed hardware refresh a few days ago, and the teardown revealed a lot of new information. Amongst other refreshes such as the Thunderbolt I/O and Sandy Bridge processors, it seems that Apple has added the Z68 chipset to the iMacs. In case you were wondering, the Z68 chipsets allow for SSD caching, which bring in increased performance as the most used files are transferred over to the SSD for instant access. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Z68 chipsets were not set for release till the end of week. Intel has granted Apple exclusive access to them days ahead of the public release and competitors' offerings. |
