IBM Technology has introduced its new, real time digital video surveillance service, which remotely monitors areas and then digitally transmits information over computer networks, via digital cameras. The service, called Super Surveillance System (S3), uses Real-time alarms that anticipate incidents by identifying suspicious behaviors of people. The service applies indexing and attribute-based search of videos to classify objects into categories such as people and cars. It has Situational awareness of the location, to identify activities of objects in a monitored space and includes features such as license plate recognition and face capture. S3 is also capable of integrating technologies from multiple vendors and uses various inputs besides digital cameras, such as multiple sensors, radar, chemical sensors and audio inputs. IBM's Digital Video Surveillance service product is currently available but the advanced analytics enabled by S3 will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2007. Click here for more info. |
