Sony India Targets 45 Percent in Compact Camera Segment
|
Sony India Thursday said it planned to boost its leadership status in the compact camera segment by taking its market share from 42 percent to 45 percent in the coming fiscal. The company, which launched a cyber-shot camera here, also said the new product was in sync with its global strategy of designing and creating innovative products that strengthened its brand identity. The new cyber-shot camera, for instance, is equipped with two new technologies -- Sweep Panorama that allows capturing ultra-wide pictures with a field view of up to 270 degrees, and High Definition Movie that enables shooting high resolution videos. "The introduction of Sweep Panorama and HD Movie technologies will ensure that a wider consumer audience would be able to experience Sony's technologically superior products," said Takakiyo Fujita, Sony India general manager of marketing. The Sweep Panorama and the HD Movie technologies will be available at a price range from Rs.12,990 to Rs.29,990. The compact camera segment in the country is currently estimated at 1.3 million units and is expected to grow to 1.8 million units in the next fiscal. |
