Remember you read it here first: October will see the entrant of a new speaker brand called Audioengine, a new company from the US. It is headed by some of the biggest names in the AV manufacturing industry. They manufacture powered speakers: two models by the name of AE2 and AE5. Designed for optimal ease of setup and versatility, the Audioengine 5 has a built-in power port for iPod charging while listening to your music, watching movies, or playing games. Plug an Apple Universal Dock or iPod directly into the Audioengine Combo Port, and you're ready to rock (or roll). The Combo Port charger is compatible with the Nano and the video iPod, and other products that charge via USB. An AC power jack in the Audioengine 5 rear panel allows you to stream music from your Mac or PC directly to the speakers from Apple's Airport Express, or with other wireless systems such as Sonos, Squeezebox, or Roku Soundbridge. The AC outlet is also ideal for powering other portable and home A/V equipment. A second auxiliary mini-jack is at hand for audio input from Airport Express or other audio products. The products seem very reasonably priced. The AE 2 will be available for about Rs. 12000, while the AE 5 will cost around Rs. 18000. |
