Nikon D700 DSLR is some four years old now and has been known for being Nikon’s cheapest full-frame sensor DSLR offering. That model, however is going to be upgraded soon, from the looks of things. There have been talks of the new D600 being launched some time in the near future, as the cheapest full-frame sensor Nikon DSLR. Full-frame sensor cameras offer much higher quality image than standard DSLRs - they’re also quite expensive. The rumours seem to be confirmed as there are leaked images of the D600 DSLR that are making their way to the web. A Chinese site, called Xitek has a few of these images on their site and it shows some interesting views of the camera. ![]() Nikon's upcoming D600 DSLR
Nikon Rumours also has a list of specifications that have been compiled based on the information that’s been leaked out on the web. The D600 is expected to be something like the following -
Rumoured Nikon D600 specifications:
Of course, these aren’t confirmed by Nikon and there’s information on when the product will be launched, at what price.
Nikon has already launched their new Nikon FX-format camera, the D4 that now serves as their new flagship model in their line-up of digital-SLR cameras. Nikon also launched the D800, which has been engineered to provide extreme resolution images and is optimized for professional still and multimedia photographers and videographers. The Nikon flagship, the D4 has a 16.2-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, coupled with their EXPEED 3 image processing engine. The D4 has a 51-point AF system and burst shooting speeds of upto 10 frames per second.
The D800, the other new FX-format model comes with a 36.3MP sensor. It, too has the new EXPEED 3 image-processing engine. In addition to the D800, Nikon has released a supplementary model for those professionals who demand higher resolution and DSLR versatility; the D800E. This unique alternative model effectively enhances the resolution characteristics of the 36.3-megapixel CMOS sensor by doing away with the anti-aliasing properties of the OLPF inside the camera. By doing this, light is delivered directly to the photodiodes, yielding an image resulting from the raw light gathering properties of the camera.
The Nikon D4 was made available in India at an MRP of Rs.3,24,950, while the D800 and D800E were made available at a MRP of Rs. 1,49,950 and Rs. 1,64,950, respectively. |
