There’s a lot of excitement when companies like Nikon and Canon launch high-end full-frame sensor DSLR cameras. The D700 and the D3 line of DSLRs have been around a while now. The D700 was launched way back in 2008 and an upgrade has been long overdue. According to Digicame-info, a D800 is on the way. The camera is likely to have a 36MP sensor onboard. Continuous shooting mode allows for upto 4 fps shooting and 6 fps with the additional battery pack. There’s full HD 1080p video recording capability at 30 frames per second. External microphone can also be connected and there’s likely to be USB 3.0 support, which means much better transfer speeds. ![]() The trusty Nikon D700, soon to be replaced by the D800
Some enhancements to the screen, face detection and white balance settings are also expected. There should be three memory card slots on the camera - two CompactFlash and one SD card slot. The Nikon D800 will end up being like a smaller version of the D3x with the likelihood of some downgrades. For example, ISO sensitivity range will be narrower. Nikon hasn’t confirmed the news, yet, but an announcement is expected by the end of the year. There’s a good chance an announcement will be made on the 24th of October and the release will be around 24th of November, this year. |
